Spicy Garlicy Hummus

Jersey Girl Spicy Garlicy Hummus

The key to a good hummus is cooking the garbanzo beans and adding Jersey Girl Hot Sauce. If you use canned beans, you need to do this quickly, and I get it, so lets do this.

Here's what you need.

  • 1 16 oz can of garbanzo beans rinsed.
  • 2 Tsp Baking soda
  • 6 cloves of garlic (crushed)
  • 1.5 lemons juiced
  • 1/3 cup Sole Tahini.
  • 1 Tsp Cumin
  • 1/2 Tsp Jersey Girl Hot Sauce
  • 1 Tsp course sea salt
  • 1 Tbsp. Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Zaatar Spice
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 ice cube

Please Chickpeas (garbanzo beans) and baking soda in a pot and fill with water (about 3-4 inches above the beans). Bring to boil and reduce heat so water continues to lightly boil for about 45 minutes.

While the beans are cooking, add the lemon juice, JG hot sauce, salt, cumin and garlic to the food processor or mini chopper and puree for about 45 seconds and let sit for 30-45 minutes.

Drain the beans and rinse with cold water and let sit for about 15 minutes.

Add Tahini to lemon mixture and puree for about 2-3 minutes, you may need to stop and scrape sides and start process again.

Add beans to the Tahini mixture with 1 ice cube and puree for about 1 minute.

Remove from processor, add to bowl, drizzle olive oil on top with 1 pinch of coarse sea salt, and Zaatar spice.

Hint, use fresh garlic that you peal yourself.
